What is functional medicine?
A systems based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease.
Why don’t you take insurance?
The insurance system is built to pay for diagnosing and treating disease-many times investigating the root cause and preventing disease does not align with insurance reimbursements. However, you would be able to submit your claims to out of network benefits as well as use HSA or FSA. We can work with you sometimes to get your labs covered with insurance. We also have very competitive prices with our lab companies to get you the best out of pocket cost.
Longer appointments allow us to actually listen and investigate thoroughly
- Advanced lab testing that insurance typically won’t approve
- Personalized treatment protocols without formulary restrictions (insurance approved)
- No surprise bills — you always know what you’re paying upfront
What conditions do you treat?
Our practice focuses on three core areas, though our root-cause approach applies broadly:
Hormone Optimization — Fatigue, low libido, mood changes, hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, brain fog, and other symptoms of hormonal imbalance in both men and women.
Gut Health & Healing — Bloating, IBS, SIBO, food sensitivities, acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, and other chronic digestive issues that haven’t responded to conventional treatment.
Medical Weight Loss — Stubborn weight that won’t respond to diet and exercise alone, often driven by metabolic dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, or insulin resistance.
We also offer peptide therapy for patients seeking support with recovery, body composition, energy, and anti-aging goals.
These 3 core areas can also address chronic fatigue, inflammation, thyroid conditions, mood issues (anxiety, depression, mood disorders), metabolic issues (i.e. diabetes), autoimmune issues, skin issues (eczema, psoriasis), detoxification of metals.
How much does it cost?
We believe in complete pricing transparency. Our care is structured in program-based packages so you know your investment upfront — no hidden fees, no surprises.
Value Proposition :
Our package prices are the most competitive in Bucks and Montgomery counties due to lab work being included in our journey packages.
Programs range from 3-month focused programs to 12-month comprehensive packages, depending on your goals and the complexity of your health concerns. Your program includes your consultations, personalized treatment planning, provider messaging access, and ongoing adjustments to your protocol.
Lab work and medications are billed separately so you only pay for what you need. We’ve negotiated favorable cash-pay rates with our lab partners, and we use trusted compounding pharmacies that keep medication costs as affordable as possible.
We’ll walk through all costs during your discovery call so there are no surprises before you commit. Many patients also use their HSA or FSA accounts to cover functional medicine services.
What is the difference between conventional and functional medicine?
Conventional medicine uses labs and symptoms to diagnose and treat with optimal drug choices in trying to stabilize the patient. The lab values that are also used are standard ranges many times that determine “disease vs no disease.” Each speciality in conventional medicine views each system separately making it hard to make the connections. Conventional medicine excels at acute care and emergencies.
Functional medicine is a personalized, science-based approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease rather than simply managing symptoms. Instead of asking “What medication can treat this symptom?”, we ask: “Why is this symptom happening in the first place?” The body is viewed as systems and patterns and rather than matching the right drug how can we heal a pathway in the body for long term healing and prevention of disease. Lab values have optimal ranges and usually lead to deeper testing. The patient-provider relationship needs to be high collaborative to reach the body’s balance. That means we look at the whole picture —Using food as medicine, lifestyle changes, gut rebalancing, hormone rebalancing, reducing environmental toxins, supplements, and sometimes medications. Functional medicine uses a more holistic approach in understanding how you feel and helping you heal.
At Thrive Nest, while we have the ability to diagnose or treat diseases or medical conditions, our focus is on promoting health and optimal function. Our services are not meant to substitute or replace those of conventional medicine but our programs are meant to work in conjunction with them and complement them. They are both needed in different scenarios.
Is hormone therapy safe?
When prescribed and monitored appropriately, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) has a strong safety profile and can significantly improve quality of life.
The key word is bioidentical — meaning the hormones we prescribe are structurally identical to what your body naturally produces. This is different from the synthetic hormones used in older studies that raised safety concerns.
At Thrive Nest, we take a careful, evidence-based approach to hormone therapy:
- Comprehensive baseline labs before starting any treatment
- Individualized dosing — no one-size-fits-all protocols
- Regular monitoring with follow-up labs to ensure your levels are optimized
- Multiple delivery options including creams, patches, pills, and injections so we can find what works best for your body and lifestyle
We’ll discuss your complete health history, risk factors, and goals in detail before recommending any hormone therapy. Safety is always our first priority.
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications for weight loss?
Yes, when clinically appropriate. GLP-1 receptor agonists (such as semaglutide and tirzepatide) can be a powerful tool for patients whose weight is driven by metabolic and hormonal factors — not just willpower.
However, medication is never our first or only approach. We start with comprehensive lab work to understand the full metabolic picture: insulin levels, thyroid function, sex hormones, inflammatory markers, and more. For many patients, addressing these underlying imbalances reduces or eliminates the need for weight loss medications.
When GLP-1 therapy is appropriate, we prescribe medications and monitor you closely with regular check-ins and lab work. We also pair medication with nutrition guidance and lifestyle support so your results are sustainable — not dependent on medication alone. We do not prescribe GLP-1 for cosmetic weight loss. Our approach focuses on metabolic health, and we only recommend these medications when the clinical picture supports its use..
What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit is a comprehensive 60–90 minute consultation designed to give us a complete understanding of your health. Before your appointment, you’ll complete a detailed intake form covering your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, medications, supplements, and goals.
During the visit, we’ll:
- Review your full health timeline — not just your current complaints, but how you got here
- Discuss your symptoms in depth — when they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your daily life
- Review any prior lab work you bring with you
- Order comprehensive labs tailored to your specific concerns
- Outline your personalized plan including next steps and timeline
This is not a rushed visit. You will feel heard, and you’ll leave with a clear understanding of the path forward.
Do you offer virtual visits?
Yes. We offer both in-person visits at our Doylestown, PA office and virtual telehealth appointments for patients located in Pennsylvania. Many follow-up appointments can be conducted virtually for your convenience, while certain initial evaluations may benefit from an in-person visit.
We’ll help you determine the best format for each appointment based on where you are in your care plan.
